Today, I tried to make a custard-topped spoonbread. While not as grand a disaster as those listed above, it had a strong impact on the family. Mostly in the form of indigestion.

I am starting to get support for the Youth Forum to be held in our community association. I have noticed that sometimes youth are reticent to talk to us "geezers" (especially with their peers present) and that a good atmosphere needs for the forum to succeed. I realize that refreshments (e.g., free pizza) will at least help get the attendence, however I am in search of other ideas that will help foster communication and participation.

Any ideas would be EXTREMELY appreciated. :-)

Well, a partial success... The stuff tastes just like my mom's, however my artistic skills in sculpting the confection are NOT perfected.

The silver lining is that my two year old did not care how they looked, he just wanted SECONDS. :-)

Well, I am going to broach youth needs (again) at our community. I am tired of hearing about "problem teenagers" while at the same time people shoot down ideas for youth involvement. I believe the first step would be a forum where youth could voice their ideas and concerns. We could then use the ideas as feedstock for real initiatives.
