One more story on mentoring. Last night I spoke with a retired naval officer who served on the Nautilus (world's first nuclear submarine) on her maiden voyage and shakedown tests. He was very helpful.

In a way this reminded me of the movie Scaramouche. This gentleman has been the mentor of some of my mentors.

Well, I filled out the online mentor form for the ANS meeting in Wash DC happening in November. The idea is that the protege is a first time conference attendee who will be the mentor's "shadow".

Last time I did this was the June 2001 Meeting, and something else happened. My protege was older than I was. I always get the more unusual assignments... ;-)

Certainly provided me a different view of mentoring.

We have been having a mouse problem for the past few days. Scratching our heads that we have a cat named Taffy that likes to chase and bite (especially a certian TIG member) but did not seem to be after the mouse. Well, last night, we found the expired mouse with telltale bite marks. Looks like Taffy came through. She is a good cat. :-)
